    Running AutoCAD 2011 on Windows 11 is not officially supported by Autodesk, as official compatibility for AutoCAD only begins with version 2021. However, many users still rely on this legacy version for archived projects or personal use. Core Compatibility Challenges

    The Risks

    1. Security: AutoCAD 2011 does not receive security updates. Running it on an internet-connected Windows 11 PC exposes your system to malicious .DWG files (using exploits from 2012-2015).
    2. File Corruption: Windows 11’s newer NTFS features (like file compression and deduplication) can corrupt old .BAK and .DWL lock files.
    3. No DPI Scaling: On a 4K laptop, the toolbars will be the size of a postage stamp. The "Override DPI" fix works for menus but not for palette text.
    • Upgrade AutoCAD – Even a modern AutoCAD LT or a subscription to the latest full AutoCAD will run natively on Windows 11 and support your old DWG files.
    • Use DraftSight or FreeCAD – For basic 2D editing of legacy drawings, these lightweight tools may open and edit AutoCAD 2011-era files without compatibility issues.
