Method 4: Pip install (alternative)

pip install mgltools-autodocktools

1. Install Homebrew (open Terminal and paste: /bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/HEAD/install.sh)")
2. Install Python 2.7: brew install python@2
3. Download MGLTools (the Linux version, not the .dmg).
4. Extract and run the installer from Terminal:

   ./install.sh
   

5. Create a launcher script to force the use of Python 2.7. Without this, ADT will default to Python 3.x and crash.

However, note that ADT is not actively developed as of 2024–2025. The original MGLTools package (which includes ADT) was last updated around 2012.
