  1. Get the official installer (using Method 1 or 2 above).
  2. Insert a 16GB+ USB drive and open Disk Utility → Erase it as: Mac OS Extended (Journaled), GUID Partition Map, name it MyVolume.
  3. Open Terminal and paste this command (press Enter after): 
    sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Catalina.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume
  4. Enter your admin password, type y to confirm, and wait 20-30 minutes.
