2. Unpatched Vulnerabilities
Adobe InDesign CS4’s last security update was in 2012. Since then, dozens of remote code execution (RCE) vulnerabilities have been discovered (e.g., CVE-2017-11283, CVE-2020-9580). Running this software on a Windows 10 or Windows 11 machine is like leaving your front door open. A maliciously crafted .indd file (which you might download from a portfolio site) could compromise your entire system.
Security Risks: Unofficial "portable" versions are often packaged with malware, such as infostealers or ransomware, which can compromise your personal data, credentials, and financial information.
