To install YouTube on a device running iOS 12.5.7 (such as an iPhone 5s, 6, or 6 Plus), you cannot download the latest version directly because the app now requires iOS 14.0 or later .

Error 3: “Unable to Verify App” after sideloading

Fix: Go offline (turn on Airplane Mode), then go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management and trust the profile again. Then turn off Airplane Mode. install youtube ios 1257

Tip: If you haven't owned YouTube before, sign into your Apple ID on a newer device (iOS 14+) and download it there first. It will then appear in your purchase history on the older device. Google Help To install YouTube on a device running iOS 12

Steps (Works for iOS 12-15):

  1. Offload the current YouTube app (if installed). Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > YouTube > Offload App. This keeps documents/data but removes the app binary.
  2. Delete the offloaded app entirely.
  3. Open the App Store and tap your profile icon (top right).
  4. Go to Purchased > My Purchases.
  5. Search for “YouTube.”
  6. If you downloaded YouTube between October 2021 and March 2022, you will see a cloud icon with a downward arrow. Tap it.
  7. A popup may say: “Download an older version? The current version requires iOS 16.0 or later. Do you want to download the last compatible version?” Tap Download.
  8. That last compatible version is often 1257 or the nearest stable release.
