The first season of Made in Heaven premiered on March 8, 2019 , and is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video . Created by Zoya Akhtar Reema Kagti

Karan Mehra is the moral center of the show. As a gay man from a lower-middle-class family, he faces bigotry from his own mother and constant judgment in the elitist wedding circuit. Arjun Mathur’s portrayal is heartbreakingly real—stoic on the outside, crumbling within. His performance earned him an International Emmy nomination, a first for an Indian male actor in the lead role.

Each episode follows an "Event of the Week" format—each wedding is grander and more chaotic than the last. However, the brilliance of the show lies in how these weddings serve as a backdrop to explore dark and pressing social themes: dowry (disguised as "gifts"), closeted homosexuality, caste politics, infidelity, and the transactional nature of marriage.

The supporting cast includes cameos from Neelam Kothari, Samridhi Dewan, and Vinay Pathak, each adding weight to the Made in Heaven -2019- Hindi Season 01 complete tapestry.

It is bold, beautiful, and biting. It establishes Amazon Prime Video’s capability to produce content that rivals global standards.

The Premise

Set against the backdrop of upscale Delhi, Made in Heaven follows the lives of two wedding planners, Tara Khanna (Sobhita Dhulipala) and Karan Saxena (Arjun Mathur). Together, they run a boutique agency named "Made in Heaven." While their job is to orchestrate the "happiest day" of their clients' lives, the show explores how the business of marriage is often anything but happy.
