Report on the Quality Control and Rectification of Bangla Subtitles: Prison Break Season 1

  1. Right-click on the .srt file and select Edit with Notepad++.
  2. Look at the bottom right corner of the Notepad++ window. You will see the current encoding (e.g., ANSI or UTF-8).
  3. Go to the top menu: Encoding > Convert to UTF-8-BOM.
  4. If the text is still gibberish, try: Encoding > Character sets > Bengali > WINDOWS-5595 (Bangla legacy). If it looks correct now, then convert to UTF-8-BOM.
  5. Save the file (Ctrl+S). Now open it in VLC or your media player. The Bangla should appear crystal clear.
  1. Open the .srt file with Notepad++ or VS Code.
  2. Go to Encoding → Convert to UTF-8.
  3. Save & reload in VLC/MPV.
