Scatters! A Toast to 11 Seasons of the Original (UK) Long before the Gallaghers were navigating the South Side of Chicago, they were raising hell on the fictional Chatsworth Estate in Manchester. Paul Abbott’s original Shameless (UK)
The final season. Eleven years after it began, Shameless ends not with a bang, but with a bittersweet, ridiculous, perfect finale. Frank Gallagher, wasted as ever, delivers a monologue about the estate that brings everything full circle. The final shot – a new generation of kids causing trouble – says it all: life on Chatsworth goes on.

Season 9 tried to course-correct by bringing back old characters for cameos, but the damage was done. The show had become a zombie version of its former self. However, for completionists, seeing how Frank survives (or doesn't) is morbidly fascinating.
The US remake (running 11 seasons on Showtime) was slicker, cleaner, and more profitable. But it lacked the rain. It lacked the specific misery of a Mancunian winter. Scatters
The later seasons transformed into a true ensemble dramedy, with Frank as the only constant anchor amidst a rotating cast of colorful estate residents.

Season 1 introduced us to the chaotic Gallagher household: alcoholic, charismatic patriarch Frank (David Threlfall), the long-suffering but fiercely protective Fiona (Anne-Marie Duff), and a rogues' gallery including Lip, Ian, Carl, Debbie, and baby Liam. The estate was a character in itself—a lawless tornado of benefit fraud, stolen washing machines, and pub lock-ins at The Jockey.
