As of April 2026, WhatsApp no longer supports Android 4.4 (KitKat). Support for this operating system was permanently discontinued in January 2025 to focus on newer security and technology standards. Current Status for Android 4.4
Even the latest WhatsApp APK for Android 4.4.2 will stop working completely after May 2025. WhatsApp has officially ended support for KitKat. After that date, you will no longer receive messages or be able to log in.
