Guide: ZTE F670Y Firmware & Advanced Configuration

⚠️ Disclaimer

Proceed at your own risk. Modifying router firmware or accessing hidden administrator settings can brick your device (make it unusable) or void your warranty with your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Do not attempt to flash firmware meant for a different hardware revision.

  1. Set your PC’s IP to 192.168.1.100.
  2. Run a TFTP server software.
  3. Place the firmware file named zte_f670y.bin in the TFTP root.
  4. Power on the router while pressing the reset button for 15 seconds. The router will pull the firmware.

Step 2: Access the Hidden Upgrade Page
The normal GUI (http://192.168.1.1) often hides the firmware upgrade menu. Use the hidden path:
http://192.168.1.1/cgi-bin/upgrade.asp
Username: admin / Password: admin or your ISP’s password (often on a sticker on the router).

“My ZTE F670Y is overheating due to firmware version X. Please force-push the latest stable version or send a technician with a patched file.”

Now flash any older firmware.

Additional Tips and Resources

1. The Physics: Why the F670Y is a Tiny Heater

Before blaming the firmware, understand the hardware. The ZTE F670Y is typically a dual-band AC Wi-Fi 5 (or AX Wi-Fi 6) unit with a built-in voice adapter (VoIP) and four Gigabit Ethernet ports.
